Sunday Service – Creation and You…The Beginning in the End with Shore Slocum

Shore Slocum’s invitation to this Sunday’s talk

A mystical understanding of our Creation, it’s source, and it’s purpose will be explored from a mystical perspective. Building insights in how Universal Law is expressed and why this reality was created. Allowing us to move within this creation more fluently, with more peace, and deeper meaning.

Sunday, March 13th at 10:00 am (Don’t forget to set your clock back) – In-Person & Livestreaming on UnityCentralOregon.org

We’re back to having in-person service and we are also Live-streaming on our website using Zoom! You can watch even if you don’t have a Zoom account (you don’t even have to fix your hair!). It will also be available as a recording in the video library on our website and on Facebook later that day.

Since the Oregon mask mandate is being lifted on March 11th we will no longer require masks at our in-person service. We encourage those that still feel more comfortable wearing a mask to continue to do so. Whatever feels right for you is the choice we encourage you to go with. 😊😷

We’re back to singing together!

What a Wonderful Gathering Last Sunday! We are Filled with Gratitude!

It was fun to see so many of you at service last Sunday. We had over 50 people attend in-person and close to 40 on Zoom. We even had some new visitors! If you joined us in-person you probably saw all the colorful flags at our peace pole and around the portico to welcome you. Thank you for bringing your beautiful energy to help us celebrate our re-opening. We can’t wait to see you again this coming Sunday.

And another big thank you to all who attended our annual meeting that followed service! Your desire to stay engaged and supportive of your Unity Community is so appreciated.

Announcing Your 2022 Tithe Recipients

Last Sunday, at our annual meeting, we voted for the four non-profits we’ll be tithing 1% of our gross income. Here are the fabulous recipients –

Around the Bend Farms – they help create sustainable urban farms to help feed those in need.

Central Oregon Landwatch – works to create well-planned cities and protect wild, open spaces across the region.

Think Wild – a wildlife hospital and conservation center in Bend.

The Father’s Group – a Black-led group that embraces collaboration and cross-cultural influences to support our youth.

Welcome Your New Board Members

This year we had 4 board members whose term was up, or because of life changes needed to step down from their board position. We are excited to welcome our four new board members who were voted in at the annual meeting last Sunday.

William Gregory

Mary Elizabether Reiss

Lisé Gottwald

Leia Napoli

Our first meeting is next week. We’ll get some pics so you can put these names with faces. We are so grateful for their willingness to serve Unity in this way. 🙏🏽💕

Unity’s Tithing Practice

This question came up at our annual meeting. If we are not in the black each month, why are we tithing? Shouldn’t we be tithing from our net, rather than our gross?

Tithing, though originally a taxation, has been shown to prosper those who practice it, as well as the organizations who receive the tithe. We subscribe to that belief. It is based on the idea that we are partnering with the unseen creative principle. That is why we tithe to where we are spiritually inspired.

Most of the funds we tithe go to support Unity’s head organizations. The support they provide all the global Unity Communities is essential.

Our tithes, ten percent of all the money that comes to us, are distributed in this way:

  • 3% goes to Unity Worldwide Ministries. They offer us mentoring, training programs, curriculum, an annual convention, and more. People looking for a local Unity may find us through this website or through the regional website.
  • 3% goes to Unity Northwest Region. This is a collaborative of the individual Unity centers in the northwest. They create a conference, minister support, and programs and retreats for youth.
  • 1% goes to Unity Worldwide Spiritual Institute which trains future Unity ministers and teachers and creates curriculum to spiritually nurture individuals in our communities.
  • 2% goes to Unity Headquarters, home of Silent Unity, and publishing house for Daily Word, Unity Magazine, many booklets, books and more. Unity Village is run by Unity HQ.
  • 1% goes to an organization in our community that inspires us with the work they are doing to serve our community.

I Don’t Think We’re In Kansas Anymore, Toto

by Elaine Cornick

So if we’re not in “Kansas”, where are we? Or where might we be?

You’ve no doubt noticed that this isn’t the same world we’ve been in, on some subtle, as well as the more obvious, levels. So if we’re not in “Kansas” anymore, where are we? Or where might we be?

As I see it, we’re in at least several “places” at once. Here are three possibilities…

Member Appreciation 🙏🏽

This week our shout out goes to three long time Unity members – Charlotte Oakes, Judi Martin, and Lorraine Schechter. These three wonderful ladies spent several hours sewing all the beautiful fabric flags that are now hanging in our sanctuary portico and at our peace pole. Be sure to read the ones that are above our entry . Do they sound familiar? These flags add so much to our entry with their colors and movement. Over the years all three of these women have given so much to our community, and this adds one more feather to their already full hat! We are so grateful to have your energy, kindness, and beautiful hearts as part of our community. Thank you!
