Sunday Service: September 25th at 10:00 AM
Changing Our Thoughts
With Rev. Jane Hiatt
Unity’s Third Principle says that we create reality with consciousness, with the thoughts we are thinking. We do not always have control of what happens in our lives, but we always have a choice about how we respond to the happenings. We can choose what we think. This week we will explore this concept using a variety of faith traditions: Hindu, Jewish, Navrati, Christian, and Unity.
Guest musicians – Eostar & Mathias will share their beautiful guitar and songs.
Watch Service In-Person or Online at UnityCentralOregon.org

Transformational Breathwork and Sound Healing Journey
with Eostar and Mathias
This Friday, Sept. 23rd from 7 to 9 PM at Unity
Are you one of the many people who have tried to meditate for years but could not get out of the prison of compulsive mind chatter? Most people only need to try breathwork once to achieve amazing results they never thought they would have. Eostar trained at The Breath Center in a technique called “Vyana Vayu”. It is a dynamic, active meditation that will quickly take the participants to altered, higher states of consciousness. Participants will be encouraged to breathe dynamically using a certain technique that will be explained prior to starting.
The breathwork will be gently followed by a return to physicality on the wings of sound healing instruments played by Eostar and Mathias. They create sound-scapes using didgeridoo, tank-drums, kalimbas, drums, monochord, crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, guitar, and Gong.
Cost – $15 to $30 sliding scale
Eostar and Mathias in Concert!
Saturday, Sept. 24th from 7 to 9 PM at Unity
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Eostar and Mathias have been submersed in the tribal, conscious and medicine music subculture for over three decades. Hungarian born Eostar Kamala channels deep lyrics and original songs from the mystical muse. Mathias delivers masterful transcendental guitar improvisations that take the listener on an inward journey.
Cost – $15 to $30 sliding scale.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Donation Day for Bend Food Project is Oct. 2nd
Every other month our community does a food donation to Bend Food Project. Consider picking up an extra item or two the next time you’re out grocery shopping.
Message from Bend Food Project – the demand for food assistance has increased substantially over the past 3 years due to the pandemic and now high inflation. The need today is greater than ever before. In fact, the demand for food has grown 38% this year alone. THE BEND FOOD PROJECT IS RISING TO THE CHALLENGE AND WILL MEET THIS INCREASED DEMAND HEAD ON. To do this we need to increase the numbers of food donors. Word of mouth is our greatest advertisement. WE ASK YOU TO SHARE THE BEND FOOD PROJECT STORY WITH YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND NEIGHBORS AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO JOIN US! Thank you for being part of this generous Bend community that has committed to combatting hunger this simple and intimate way. You are the reason the Bend Food Project works. You are, indeed, part of something very special. Know that together, we are fighting hunger and changing lives – one green bag at a time.

Member Appreciation
We’ve had some weeding volunteers hard at work in the labyrinth area. One of the challenges of having a large property is maintaining it and keeping it beautiful. We’ve had some members step up to help and we are so grateful! We’d like to give a big shout out to Lorraine & Lawrence Schechter, Franz Younghans, Pam Mindt, Shabana Wilkins, Clare Kubota, Leia Napoli, Jane Hiatt, Susan Warnick, and Margaret King!! If you’ve done some weeding and we missed mentioning you, we’re sorry and please let us know. We do our best to keep native plants in tact and only remove invasive species without any chemicals. You weeders are all now part of our official Unity Weedership team 😁. Thank you so much.

We’re Creating a Community Altar
Those of you that have been joining us in person for Sunday service may have noticed the large table as you now enter the sanctuary. One of our beautiful members, River Hedegaard, had the idea of creating a community altar that would greet people as they entered the space. That idea has been met with such enthusiasm we immediately moved the table there and began envisioning exactly what this altar would hold.
- This space will be home to items that hold energy you’d like to share with your Unity community and/or would like to be filled with energy from our space.
- We will be changing out the altar each season, so please keep items you bring appropriate for that season.
- If you don’t want the item in your home, we probably don’t want it in our space. We kindly request that this not be your opportunity to clean out those garage storage bins 😊.
- Items should be appropriate to be shared in our space and things you think will be enjoyed by others.
- Since our hope is that many of you will be contributing an item please don’t bring anything too large. We want there to be plenty of space for everyone who wants to to place an item.
Ideas for things to bring –
- A stone from a beautiful place you have visited.
- A meaningful piece of art or photo.
- A poem.
- A seashell – for the summer season altar.
- An item from a person you love – example; the cookie cutter you and your mother used to bake holiday cookies – for the winter or fall altar.
- A small plant, maybe a blooming orchid.
- Something from your recent travels that holds special energy.
Have Something You Think We Should Include in Our Newsletter?
