Change: Your Evolutionary Ally

with Rev. Jane Hiatt

Moving into a new calendar year, we focus on our intentions for change—or at least a slight adjustment. How can we be more fully who we came here to be? It’s a question we are asking as a community as well. Change is not always welcome but is essential to life. Let’s explore ways to break free of our status quo and move into the unknown territory of our greater potential.

Bring a snack to share after service!

Childcare and activities are available for children 0 through 12 years.

Spirit Groups Starting This Month

The Soundtrack of our Lives – Starts Jan. 16th at 6pm for 7 weeks. Hosted by Victor Johnson and Jillie Nishball in NE Bend. Most of us have some special songs that we hold near and dear to our hearts. And the opportunity to share their meaning with others would be a gift. That’s what this auditory Spirit Group is all about.

Becoming Supernatural – Starts Jan. 18th at 6pm for 7 weeks (this group is full). Hosted by Colinda Wolfe-Finch & Sarah Hood in NW Bend. “Becoming Supernatural” by Dr Joe Dispenza, discusses how normal people are doing extraordinary things, how they are doing it and the science behind it. We will experiment with these techniques and become the Superheroes we know that we are born to be!

Compassionate Communication (NVC) – Starts Jan. 27th at 1pm for 7 weeks (only a couple spots left). Hosted by Carol Fox in SE Bend. We will read and discuss “Nonviolent Communication – A Language of Life” (3rd edition) by Marshall Rosenberg. Rosenberg believed that our greatest human need is for connection. NVC offers a simple but profound understanding of how we can communicate with others in ways that strengthen our connections and meet our other needs as well. At our first meeting we’ll decide the best meeting time/day that works for the group.

Are you interested in hosting a Spirit Group? The only requirements to host are that you have participated in a Spirit Group and have done the host training. Spirit Groups are small study groups, usually 5 to 8 people, who meet for a few weeks to connect and read a book, watch a video series, or listen to podcasts together and have a group discussion. Ellipse Theatre Community Presents the Play – God of Carnage – at Unity, Jan. 11th – 20th

Come support this fabulous local non-profit theater company as they support our venue! The vision of Ellipse Theatre Community (ETC) is to dynamically create community through entertainment, education, and diverse perspectives for cultural enlightenment.

About the play – A playground altercation between two eleven-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses (and the rum flows), tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their principles in tatters. While we all strive to listen to our better natures, God of Carnage uncompromisingly captures the complexity, frailty and absurdity of human nature. Cost $25. (Play contains adult language). If you are interested in volunteering in exchange for a free ticket please contact Clare HERE.

Member Appreciation

This week Eric and Diane Moyerman are getting a huge thank you for all the ways they’ve shown up for our community in the past few months. They are both on the newly developed Prosperity & Growth Team with Eric volunteering to be the lead. Because of the work they’ve done in creating and implementing an end-of-year donation drive, instead of ending the year significantly in the red, our finances are now in the positive 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼😁.

Eric is a super organizer and has done a wonderful job as the team lead. Diane has also done a significant amount of work for this group, in addition, she is the Kitchen Team lead. When you’re a couple the other partner often gets pulled in as a bonus helper, so Eric helps Diane clean the kitchen and foyer area once the buffet crowd diminishes. They are people who see a need and step up to take care of it or offer to help get it done. We are so grateful for you Eric & Diane! Thank you for all you do for our community.
