Finding the spiritual elements of Infinite Possibilities

with Rev. Tamera Schmidt

Mike Dooley the author of Infinite Possibilities, living the life of your dreams says his career really began when he spoke at a Unity church in Florida.  In fact he loves saying, ” Those Unity people are a lot like us IPpies” (the term for certified Inifinite Possibility trainers.)  We will explore the principles for spiritual living that make it very obvious why Mike felt so at home in Unity communities throughout the world and how we can use it all to manifest of our own magic.

What a Great Town Hall!

So much appreciation to all the folks who joined us at Unity or online for our first Town Hall on Monday evening. We got a plethora of good ideas and we’ll incorporate some of them immediately! We are going to experiment with adding meditation time before the service. Please come at 9:45 and enjoy quiet space before the service begins at 10:00. We also heard you about having the prayer come after the high energy of celebrations and announcements. On it!

If you missed the meeting your voice is still important. Fill out this survey so we can hear from you.

Newcomer’s Potluck Dinner at Rev. Jane’s

Thurs. Jan. 11th at 6:00 PM – just 2 spots left

Are you new to Unity or looking to meet others in our community? There are still a couple of seats at the table at Rev. Jane’s house. Enjoy a delicious potluck meal and meet new friends. We’d love to welcome you to our community.

Grow Spiritually with Unity

Thursdays, February 1-22, 12:00 – 1:30 PM at Unity
OR a hybrid class: 7:00 – 8:30 PM Mon. Jan 22, Wed. Jan 31, Thurs. Feb 8, and Tues. Feb 13, either at Unity or on Zoom

One request that came up a few times was for more classes and an introductory class that offered a path for growth with Unity. In response, Rev. Jane has created a 4 week class to do just that. Because we have so many activities happening, the evening class wasn’t possible on the same night of the week. Because this is an introductory class, if you can only make some of the sessions, it’s okay and it’s also okay to mix up your attendance between day and evening classes.

Spirit Groups Starting This Month

The Soundtrack of our Lives – Starts Jan. 16th at 6pm for 7 weeks. Hosted by Victor Johnson and Jillie Nishball in NE Bend. Most of us have some special songs that we hold near and dear to our hearts. And the opportunity to share their meaning with others would be a gift. That’s what this auditory Spirit Group is all about.

Compassionate Communication (NVC) – Starts Jan. 27th at 1pm for 7 weeks (Only a couple spots left). Hosted by Carol Fox in SE Bend. We will read and discuss “Nonviolent Communication – A Language of Life” (3rd edition) by Marshall Rosenberg. Rosenberg believed that our greatest human need is for connection. NVC offers a simple but profound understanding of how we can communicate with others in ways that strengthen our connections and meet our other needs as well. At our first meeting we’ll decide the best meeting time/day that works for the group.

Are you interested in hosting a Spirit Group? The only requirements to host are that you have participated in a Spirit Group and have done the host training. Spirit Groups are small study groups, usually 5 to 8 people, who meet for a few weeks to connect and read a book, watch a video series, or listen to podcasts together and have a group discussion. Contact Leia HERE if you’re interested.

Group Book Read – Black Joy

Group discussion – Feb. 13th from 4:30 – 5:30 PM with Rev. Jane

In anticipation of the Feb. 20 keynote event with the author — and held in conjunction with Black History Month. We have a couple free books to offer, so ask Rev. Jane if they’re still available.

Prosperity and Growth Team

Do you know we have a team dedicated to the sacred act of fundraising and growing our Unity Community? Headed by Eric Moyerman, this team consists of Kevin Kubota, Diane Moyerman, Sarah Jones, and Clare Kubota. Their first action as a group was the Giving Tuesday campaign, which (thanks to all of you!) resulted in getting us from a deficit of $26,500 at Thanksgiving time to $8000 in the black by the end of the year!

The next project has been signing up for a virtual workshop with Lynn Twist called “Fundraising from the Heart”. The team, along with the board, is immersed in that study now.

Outreach Opportunities

Warm Clothing Drive for Jericho Road

Please bring gloves, hats, coats, sweaters, long-johns, blankets, sleeping bags, socks, etc. any Sunday in January to donate to Jericho Road Outreach which helps the unhoused community in Redmond. The cold is upon us and this community could use your support. Unity member Margaret King who works with Jericho Road will be collecting all the donated items each Sunday after service. Learn more about Jericho Road HERE.

Family Kitchen

Sat. Jan. 26th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

It’s that time again! Every other month a group from our community makes and serves lunch at the Family Kitchen. If you’d like to join the team contact Mary Fay HERE.

Ellipse Theatre Community Presents the Play – God of Carnage – at Unity, Jan. 11th – 20th

Come support the fabulous local non-profit theater company as they support our venue! The vision of Ellipse Theatre Community (ETC) is to dynamically create community through entertainment, education, and diverse perspectives for cultural enlightenment.

About the play – A playground altercation between two eleven-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses (and the rum flows), tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their principles in tatters. While we all strive to listen to our better natures, God of Carnage uncompromisingly captures the complexity, frailty and absurdity of human nature. Cost $25. (Play contains adult language).

Sound Bath & Reiki

Every Sunday from 5:30 to 6:30 PM

Join Lisa Swisher and her team of beautiful musicians for an hour of peaceful relaxation and healing. It’s a perfect self-care treat. Bring a mat to lay on and wear comfortable clothing. All are welcome. Cost is on a sliding scale – $15 to $25.

Member Appreciation

This week we’re appreciating Rev. Kelly Billings who graciously accepted “the nudge” from Rev. Jane and did such an exemplary job of spontaneous speaking on Sunday, tapping into a lifetime of garnered wisdom. Rev. Kelly is also joining our Prosperity and Growth Team. Thanks for stepping up, Rev. Kelly!
