The Art of Attraction
with Rev. Robin Currier
This is the first Sunday in February, the month where we traditionally celebrate love, which is one of Unity’s 12 Powers—the power that creates our world. Desire and attraction are the starting points for all creation and especially our relationships. Rev. Robin will get into some nuts and bolts of deepening love.

Daniel Reader slipped into Formless Love on Thursday, 1/11/24. Daniel was a beloved member of our community. He was a teacher, a tender of plants, a host of Spirit Groups, and so much more. He leaves his partner of 20 years, Cari Bourette, and all of us, richer for having known him and so sad to let him go. The celebration of life is online only because he has people all over the country who will be attending.

Spread the Love with Random Acts of Poetry
Donna Benjamin is offering to be your Love Genie. Just click on this link () and tell Donna who you’d like to send a poem of appreciation to. Think outside the romantic Valentine’s Day box. Do you have a child (of any age) who would like to be celebrated with poetry? What about someone from Unity that you really like —or someone who might not be getting a Valentine? What about a parent or a BFF or a prized employee? Or maybe you take a radical self-love step and commission a love poem to yourself! Here’s how it works. Instead of rubbing a lamp, you contact Donna and pay $50 (10% goes to Unity) and fill out her form with info about your Valentine. Soon you will have a personalized poem to delight that special person. You will be a Valentine Superstar and Unity will be richer too. And, alright, if you have a romantic partner, you can still order a poem for them too.

OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP
Nominate Your Favorite Non-Profits
One of the privileges of membership in our community is that you get to nominate and vote on local non-profits to receive our quarterly tithe. Every quarter we donate 1% of the money we receive to one of the four organizations selected at our annual meeting. (The other 9% goes to creating a global ecosystem of unity, deep wisdom, and loving kindness by growing our Unity movement in the world.)
The process for nominating a local charity is to choose a local group you love that has not received our tithe in the last two years*. The organization should fit into one of these four categories: Youth and Family; Food and Shelter; Earth Care; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Email your nomination to Rev. Jane by Feb. 13. Include the name of the organization, website, contact person and one to two sentences about why they deserve our tithe. We would also like to receive a 1-2 minute video that describes the organization. These will be shared a week before our Feb 27 annual meeting via this newsletter so folks have the chance to familiarize themselves with the organizations and make an informed vote.
(* Recipients 2023: VegNet Bend, Central Oregon LandWatch, P-FLAG, Around the Bend Farms, and Peaceful Presence. 2022: Think Wild, Around the Bend Farms, Central Oregon LandWatch and the Fathers’ Group.)

Bend Food Project

Dave and Lynda Sullivan have been members of our community since 2001 when we first began. Dave served on our first board and he served as the Grange Master from 2010-2017. He was a member of the Business Visioning Team that helped us locate a new building. Lynda was a Grange member all that time as well. Having an active Grange was a condition for being able to rent the space at a very low cost. But since the building was 100 years old, Dave had to pay attention to lots of details—like making sure the toilets actually worked and the cistern had been filled with water. Lynda was a greeter from the beginning until we moved to our current building in 2018. Many will remember her warm, welcoming smile. She always brought a home-cooked meal to share for brunch. And she even took the dishtowels home each week to wash. Both Lynda and Dave have always been such friendly, loving individuals and champions of our community. Committed and consistent are two other words that describe them. We have always been able to count on them for very generous donations and for showing up on Sundays. Now that health concerns keep them home at Black Butte Ranch, they show up every Sunday on Zoom. Next time you’re on the Sunday Zoom, be sure to say hello. Lynda and Dave, we love and appreciate you!
