Kids Activities this Sunday
The nursery is open for children 4 years and under.
Our elementary-aged children will be starting a Christmas journey–on the Polar Express! Each week they’ll be watching a segment of the film (accompanied by popcorn!) and then having activities and discussions designed to help them glean the rich spiritual messages of the film. If your kids are going to miss this Sunday, I encourage you to watch the first 23 minutes with them–but no more!!! The message for this week is to look inward to the Christ presence for guidance and say yes to the journey of self-discovery. If you’re not familiar with this animated film, it’s about a young boy wondering about the meaning of Christmas. When he overhears his parents say that this year might be the end of the magic for him, he is confused. Soon after, he hears a whistle and feels the rumble of a train. He goes outside to investigate and begins a wild adventure.
Teens – Movie night from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at Bend Church on Staats St.

The Opposite of Namaste book Q&A with author Timber Hawkeye
This Sunday from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Unity
Discover the benefits of mindfully living at peace with the world both within and around us. It’s not about living in a bubble where nobody pushes your buttons – it’s about getting to a point where you don’t have any buttons that can be pushed.
Mindfulness doesn’t make other people less irritating, it makes us less irritable.
This is a FREE event and everyone is welcome.

Post Thanksgiving Potluck, Dance Party, and Bonfire!
Nov. 25th from 5 to 8 PM at Unity – All are welcome
Let’s celebrate Thanksgiving together – one day late!
Bring your leftovers… or anything else you’d like to share and we will feast in each others company.
We’ll then move, dance and play to the fun and diverse music of the 40’s – 80’s. Come step into your expressive, playful self in an atmosphere of acceptance and connection. No experience necessary. We’ll then move outside and stay warm with a bonfire… so dress appropriately and bring camp chairs if you wish. We’ll have smore ingredients! If you’re musical please bring your instruments. This event is open to everyone, so invite friends you think would enjoy this event.
• Since we only have one small microwave bring your dish already heated.
• Bring a roasting stick if you’d like smores.
If you are able to arrive early to help with set up please email Clare Kubota.

MEMBER APPRECIATION
As many of you heard during celebrations on Sunday, we had a super fun poetry night last Saturday. This fabulous event was organized and hosted by Donna Benjamin and William Gregory. Thank you Donna and William for sharing your passion for poetry with our community and beyond, and awakening several of us to our inner poet. They plan to do more of these events and add in some poetry workshops, so keep your eye out for those.
We’d also like to say how much we’re going to miss long-time members, Joanne & Rev. Jim Pasmore. These two are getting ready to head south for the winter so keep them in your prayers for a wonderful adventure! We’ll be counting the days until you two get back. (be careful what you post on social media – we just might use it in our newsletter 😁)
Did you hear the angelic voice of Laurel Alyn-Forest this past Sunday? Her father, Ilan, was our guest speaker so how perfect to have her sing before and after his talk! She got a standing ovation and we hope to have her sing for us again soon. Thank you Laurel for the time you put into preparing and performing. We loved it.
Last but not least – we want to celebrate and appreciate Rev. Jane and Jeff Hiatt’s loving pooch Ringo. He was their faithful companion for over 14 years and they are grieving his loss deeply. We hold the knowing that sweet Ringo is surrounded by toys and treats and his spirit will show up in beautiful ways for Jane and Jeff.
