Powerful You: The Matrix and Unity’s Twelve Powers

with Rev. Jane Hiatt

We are all more powerful than we realize. We come into form pre-wired with what Unity calls our Twelve Powers. This summer we’ll be exploring these in a special program called Reel to Real where we see each power illustrated in cinematic fashion as well as in our lives. This Sunday, Rev. Jane will be using the movie The Matrix to give an overview of our innate power. In an era when A.I. is showing up more frequently, we’ll contrast the artificial intelligence forms in the movie with the true power represented by Neo, Morpheus and the others.

Bring a favorite snack item to share with the community after service! We’ll provide the coffee and tea ☕️.

Childcare and activities are available for children 0 through 12 years 🌈. We are in need of youth volunteers to help. Contact Clare –

Matrix Movie Night

Sunday, June 9th at 6:30 at Unity

After Rev. Jane’s reference to The Matrix in her talk, let’s get together and watch the movie. It is so rich in content and symbolism and we’re sure to have a rich discussion afterwards.

Volunteer Info Fair

This Sunday after service

It takes a village to run our special Unity Community and we are always looking for more Angels to help 😇. We’ll have information on all the volunteer positions needed, what the time commitment is, and all that’s involved in helping so you can find something that works for you. Plan to grab a bite to eat after service then browse the info and hopefully sign up to offer your help.

Here are all the teams supported by volunteers that can always use extra hands – Kitchen, Cleaning, Music, Youth & Nursery, EarthCare, Greeters, Admin & Marketing, Family Kitchen, Misc. Special talents.

Unity Board Update

Our Board of Directors has made a change. Leia Napoli, who has served as board president for the last year and a half, needed to step back from the presidency to attend to family affairs. We are grateful that she will remain on our board. Kevin Kubota, who was the VP, is stepping into the role of President and Sarah Jones was elected to be the new Vice President.

No Sound Bath & Reiki in June

Lisa Swisher and her team are unable to do the Sound Bath June but they hope to see you when they return in July! We may have an offering in place of sound bath so stay tuned.

NEW CLASS – Braving Our Wilderness, with Dr. Cari Bourette

Note on dates and times: These will be determined by the group. There will be two sessions during the window of June 10-June 22.

Our spiritual community is evolving and with that comes change.  Rev. Jane’s announcement of her intention to step back from being senior minister initiated the process of a rite of passage for us.  Some have experienced strong reactions to this, perhaps unexpectedly, or feel left with feelings of confusion.  Bring your feelings about the changes in our community along with an open heart and mind.  Be prepared to share the personal spaces that are being touched by this change in the community, knowing that we are in this together, and can support each other in our personal and collective healing… together. Space is limited to 7 people so RSVP soon.

Save the Date – Town Hall Meeting

Wednesday, June 12th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Topic – An open forum, Community discussion on minister transition. All are welcome! We want your thoughts and input as we work towards this important and exciting transitional period together.

Member Appreciation

This week I’d like us to all give a big shout out to our board members!! They carry a big responsibility making sure we have a thriving community. Unity is a community many of us have a lot of emotion connected with and our board needs to function very differently from a traditional corporation or non-profit board. There are spiritual principles they need to incorporate in their decision making which can add a whole level of complexity and beauty since our spiritual beliefs are so personal to each one of us. Thank you board members for always doing your best and especially Kevin Kubota who recently stepped up to fill in as president so Leia could focus on some personal things needing her attention.

Did You Know You Can Venmo Your Donation to Unity?

We know many of you may not carry cash or checks to Sunday service so we set up a Venmo account you can use for your donation. Our Venmo account is @UnityCCO (it should say Unity Community Central Oregon when you pull it up), or use the QR code on the slips in the seat pockets. We thank you for supporting our beautiful community!!
