Invitation to Sunday Service with Katie Schmidt

Sometimes It’s Good to Be Selfish

with Katie Schmidt

This week we welcome Katie Schmidt, one of our young adult members, to the stage to share something that has had a huge impact on her life for the better. Making time for yourself.

What would your wise mind say? It is important to take time to focus on you! That can entail journaling, coming to Unity, a walk in the park and so much more. Skills to get through tough times and conversations are also extremely important. My talk is a breakdown that being selfish is not always a bad thing, especially when it comes to focusing on the growth of you! Teaching you the acronyms that will impact your life for the better: my favorite alphabet soup.

Breathwork and Sound Healing Journey with Eostar & Mathias

Friday, August 18th from 7:00 – 9:30 PM at Unity

Eostar and Mathias have played sacred acoustic music and sound healing music to audiences along the West Coast and South America for more than a decade both as devotional musicians and as sound healers. The type of breathwork Eostar will lead is an ancient pranayama called Vyana Vayu. It is a dynamic active meditation that will quickly take the participants to altered, higher states of consciousness. Participants will be encouraged to breathe dynamically using a certain technique that will be explained prior to starting. The breathwork experience will be gently followed by a return to physicality on the wings of sound healing instruments.

They taught this class last year and it was such an incredible experience. They are gifted instructors and musicians. We hope you can come. Cost is on a sliding scale of $15 to $30.

Member Appreciation

This week we’d like to appreciate member Leia Napoli! Leia is our Unity board president, a regular Zoom host for our online Sunday viewers, Spirit group host, and she is leading our laundry services with the local shelter facility The Lighthouse. Leia joined Unity during our Covid shutdown so when things re-opened again she was anxious to get involved and support our community however she could. In addition to all she is doing for our community she is working on her masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, working at Bethleham Inn, and raising a beautiful teenager. Leia, we appreciate your beautiful heart, desire to serve so many in need, calming energy, and sweet smile. We are blessed to have you as part of our Unity family. 💕🌈🦋

How Your Community Gives Back

Are you looking for a way to support those in need in Central Oregon? Here are a few ways our Unity family is helping and we are always looking for more volunteers –

The Family Kitchen – the fourth Saturday of every other months Unity volunteers prepare and serve lunch to those in need.

The Lighthouse – A houseless shelter – Each week staff from The Lighthouse delivers up to 5 loads of dirty laundry from people they are sheltering and we ask 5 Unity members to each take a load home to wash and deliver to the shelter by Tuesday evening.

MountainStar Family Relief Nursery – Unity volunteers purchase items and put together birthday bags for toddler age children that are part of the MountainStar program.

•Bend Food Project – The first Sunday of every other month members bring non-perishable food items that are then delivered to the local food banks.

If you are interested in helping with any of these projects email Clare – .

Home Movie Night – The Natural Law

One of our members found out about this movie and thought her Unity family might be interested in checking it out too.

The Natural Law explores one man’s decade-long journey back to wellness by embracing a new life aligned with nature’s code. Could Ayurveda be the answer to the physical, emotional, and spiritual threats imposed on us by modern life?

Sign up to watch for free beginning August 25th HERE.
