World with a View:
How Mindsets Rule Our Lives and World

with Rev. Cylvia Hayes

Each of us moves through life viewing the world around us in a particular way based on a set of beliefs we’ve developed and assumptions we’ve accepted. In addition to our individual worldview we are immersed in a collective or societal worldview. This programming becomes an overlay on everything we experience which, of course, means it has tremendous power over our quality of life, our level of peace, happiness, etc. The more aware we become of our mostly unconscious beliefs and ways of viewing the world the more agency we have over personal experiences and our ability to shape society.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Poem by Poetry Night Host Donna Benjamin
THE ONE... NOW

What if religion meant peace
As we breatheAs we pray
It all comes down to peace
What if religion meant love
As we breathe
As we prayIt all comes down to love
What if religion meant oneness
As we breatheAs we pray
It all comes down to oneness
So no matter if you go to a mosque, a shul, a church, a forest
So no matter if you clasp hands, get down on your knees, face Mecca
So no matter if you enter a sweat lodge, walk the labyrinth, burn sage
So no matter if you blow this shofar, light a candle or live in silence
It is all the same
As long as we have the intention of the one
So look into your neighbors eyes
Deep into their ancestral history
And know you were born to bring about the one... NOW

Thanks Dave!

Member Appreciation

Our SolShine music director, Dave Finch, deserves a special shout out this week. This guy knows how to make things happen, even with very little lead time. Lady Kiah, our recent guest musician reached out to Dave a couple weeks before coming to town to see if he could put together a jazz band to play with her at her concert at Unity. The musicians he brought together were nothing short of amazing! Because of his time and connections those that attended the concert had a magical evening. We appreciate you Dave and are so fortunate to have you as part of our Unity family!! 🎶🕺🏻💕🤙🏽 Rock on Dave.

Camino by Air

Member Dennis Schoenberg recently set off in his small plane to do what he calls his Camino by Air –

“It’s inspiration is to fly my airplane to Kitty Hawk (NC) and back, home of the Wright Brothers’ first flight. There’s a runway just 50 yards away from the exact spot of that first flight. I’m on an “aviator’s pilgrimage”.

From Dennis – “I had a nice day in the Unity village and walked all the grounds as well as the nature trail loop. I walked the (new) labyrinth and sat in Myrtle Grove. A highlight was the 12 Powers Prayer Garden around Unity Tower. The quotes on bricks and plaques spoke to me.  I really feel grounded and connected here.”

Keep him in your prayers for an amazing journey! 🙏🏽💕✈️
