Does Every Obstacle in Life Have a Gift for Us?
with Rev. Jim Pasmore
In this talk Jim will discuss the Spiritual implications of obstacles and how each one has a gift for us in terms of creating more joy, gratitude and growth in our life. The key is having faith and courage to allow Spirit to guide us through each challenge and to see the opportunity that each one presents. Jim will share some of his experiences with difficult obstacles in is life, some examples from his book, Flash, and will share examples of obstacles from his recent Spartan race that he realized afterward were excellent metaphors for real obstacles in life.
Bring a snack to share after service!

Plant-Based Cooking Demo
Sunday, October 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
Did you know one of the most significant steps you can take to reduce environmental damage and climate change pollution is to include more plant-based meals in your diet? That’s why Central Oregon Interfaith EarthCare is hosting a plant-based cooking demonstration and potluck. Vegan chef Al Chase will show us some great techniques for whipping up amazing plant-based meals.
Other cooks among us will also bring recipes and tasty treats. Feel free to come with or without a sharable dish. If you do bring your favorite plant-based dish to share, as a courtesy, please label ingredients for those with food restrictions, or even better, bring copies of the recipe to share! Around the table, we will make time to talk, establish connections, and especially to share what dreams we have in our congregations for doing our part to care for the sacred Planet. We’ll start making plans for how we can support each other and make a much greater impact for Earth Care together than we could separately!

Member Appreciation
This week we’d like to say a huge thank you to our cleaning crew. Everyone on this crew volunteers a few hours a month to sanitize and keep our space beautiful. Without them, we’d literally be a mess 🤣. Most of us don’t get excited about cleaning more toilets or mopping more floors, but these folks show up to do their part in supporting our community. The current regular cleaning team includes – Nate Lund, Clare Kubota, Pam Mindt, Rhoda Navarra, Chris Tippets, Christine Hart, and Laurel Alyn-Forest. If you know any of them please take the time to let them know how much they are appreciated. A few more have recently stepped up to join this team – yeah!! Thank you so so much!
Preschool Teacher Needed at Our Neighbor School – Mia’s Sprouts
Mia’s Sprouts is currently hiring a preschool teacher. If you have completed a CPR class, hold a central background certification registration, and have 1-2 years of experience in a preschool center, we would love to meet you! However, even if you don’t have the specific qualifications, but are interested in working in early childhood education, please come talk to us. This could be a wonderful opportunity for you to pursue your passion.
Have Something You Think We Should Include in Our Newsletter?
